Upstate Performance Technology Workshop
12-Jan-2012Last week, Productions Unlimited, Inc. and Furman University presented the first event in the Upstate Performance Technology Workshop series. This invitation only event, held at Furman’s McAlister Auditorium, kicked off Wednesday with a Trouble Shooting Workshop. Attendees attempted to stump the chumps, challenging Productions Unlimited, Inc. experts with their toughest questions, problems, and broken equipment. During this afternoon session, we learned how to change a DMX chip in an Express Series console, received an introduction to video cables, formats and connectors, and learned about wireless frequencies and the common problems they present.
Thursday and Friday, Jay O. Glerum, author of the Stage Rigging Handbook taught a stage rigging workshop. During this two day class, Glerum covered topics including Liability, Forces and Loads, Components and Hardware, Simple Bridle and Beam calculations, Operation Procedure, and Inspection Procedure.
Thursday night, Brian Phillips, President of Productions Unlimited, Inc. lead an Introduction to Fall Protection session, discussing when and where fall protection is required and running through the basics of putting a fall protection system together.
Although this Jay Glerum workshop was an invitation only event, future Upstate Performance Technology Workshops will not be. Let us know what types of events you are interested in you, your staff or your students attending. Whether it is another workshop with Jay O. Glerum or a class on Theatrical Power Systems – we want your input! E-mail Meredith with your suggestions and to be added to our mailing list for news about upcoming events.
